Caribbean

The most popular tourist destination in the Caribbean. It is easy to see why with it’s Golden- or white-sand beaches shaded by palm trees and crystalline waters teeming with rainbow-hued fish. Spicy food, spicier meringue, and the gentle, leisurely lifestyle of the islands draw increasing thousands to the Dominican Republic every year. As Dominicans are often quick to point out, their land was the setting for Christopher Columbus's first colony, La Isabela, and Spain's first New World city, Santo Domingo, at the end of the fifteenth century.
